In the absence of Gerry Parker (CoOp), Dave Tuffnell captained the CoOp, Luton, team to victory in the Arthur Goodman Trophy match against LIBC for the first time in several years.

In the Quarter Final of the London & Southern Counties Shield competition, LIBC were narrowly defeated by Kempston IBC (70 - 71). After a very close game where the result could have gone either way, Kempston finally won when, with the very last bowl of the match, Jamie Magan managed to get second wood to prevent Nick Cornish from winning the match for Luton and thus reaching the Semi-Final of the competition.

Congratulations to the team for reaching this stage of the competition.

Congratulations to our Men's team on reaching the Quarter Finals of the London & Southern Counties Shield competition by defeating Herts (Watford) 85 - 72.

Congratulations to Duncan Shearer - Area finalist of National Singles competition.

Congratulations to Gordon Ward - Area finalist of National Over 60s Singles competition.

The Summer match against Co-op Luton for the Arthur Goodman Trophy will be played on Saturday 30th July 2011. Please put this date in your diary - it is NOT in your fixture card.

The more observant of you will have noticed that the results of LIBC matches have begun appearing in the Luton News Sports Section. We are hoping that this along with the recent improved televising of the Indoor World Championships at Potters will bring some some much needed new members to the club.

You can help by encouraging your family and friends (and others) to join us.

Luton Indoor Bowls Club held their annual Christmas Gala on Monday 27 December when an enjoyable day was had by all participants. There was a good turnout of eighty (80) players organised into two groups of ten teams each with four players.

The highlight of the day was the usual chaos surrounding the "Spider", where, from all sides of the green, players, simultaneously, attempted to get their bowls nearest the plastic spider. When the confusion ended, the winner was found to be Peter Maina.

The "Spider" raised a total of £50 for the British Heart Foundation.

An enjoyable afternoon's bowling took place on Wednesday, 15th December at Luton Indoor Bowls Club between teams representing "The Santas" and "The Snowmen", captained respectively by the Ladies' captain (Rita Denton) and the ladies' vice-captain (Maureen Allen). After a hard-fought game "The Santas" emerged triumphant with the score being 96 - 97.
